The next FISSING meeting will be:

Empowering your Top Teams through Tough Times

Developing Managers, Leaders and Organisations in the Recession

HR Strategy Research and Benchmarking Meeting

at One Whitehall Place, London SW1A 2HE

9.30 for 10.00 till 4.00 (including buffet lunch) on Tuesday 31st March 2009

In these tough times, Practitioners in the overlapping areas of Management Development, Leadership Development and Organisation Development must show their mettle.

The recession creates not so much an opportunity for practitioners, as a dire necessity to deliver results!

That’s the view of three experienced practitioners who have ‘seen it before’, survived and prospered in previous downturns.  They will be giving their insights into what we can do this time – albeit a rather different challenge.

The aim of the day will be to provide insights into how to support the senior executives and leading managers.  And we should not forget that the process is mediated through the politics and the personalities of organisational life.  This will not be an academic event nor one that leaves you with a sense of such challenges that progress seems daunting.  Our aim is to help you to build from where you are and with what you have. There’s no time for constructing a text book; let’s deal with the actualité.  We will focus on how to help in a credible way that will appeal to executives and managers as realistic and pragmatic.

The area we will cover is the urgent contribution needed from Management Development, Leadership Coaching and OD. And the challenge of making a difference immediately that lasts.

The Right Questions for Managers in Tough Times        -        Iain Thomson

Leadership Lessons for Recessionary Times                 -       Alistair Turner

Guiding Critical Business Projects the OD Way             -       Chris Nutt

Iain Thomson (Management Developer), Alistair Turner (Leadership Coach) and Chris Nutt (OD Project Leader) have a wealth of experience covering several management disciplines and are leading lights in their fields.  They will lead the day and a flavour of their thinking may be gleaned from extracts of their writings as attached.

We will meet at 9.30 for 10.00 and break for a buffet lunch at 1.00 to 1.30. The day will end at 4.00pm.

As usual, there will be no charge for Corporate Benchmarking Club members. Otherwise a cover charge of £170.00 + VAT (£199.75) per person will be made for FISSING or HR Society members.  For non-members the cover charge will be £250.00 + VAT (£293.75).
